Why do I need this medicine?
Hydrocortisone, Neomycin, and Polymyxin B are combined in this medicine.

This medicine is used to treat ear infection.
How do I use this medicine?
Use Hydrocortisone + Neomycin + Polymyxin B exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.

This medicine is available as an ear drop suspension or solution.

To use the ear drop suspension or solution, follow these steps:
  1. Wash your hands with soap and water before using the ear drops.
  2. If using the ear drop suspension, shake the bottle well before using.
  3. Lie down or tilt your head to one side.
  4. Gently pull your upper ear up and back. Insert the nozzle into the affected ear and instil the required number of drops.
  5. Keep your head tilted or remain lying down for 10 minutes.
  6. Repeat steps to administer your dose into the other ear if required.
  7. After each use, wipe the nozzle with a clean tissue and replace the cap of the bottle.
Do not allow the tip of the container of this medicine to touch your ear, fingers or any other surface. Recap the ear drop immediately after use. If this medicine becomes contaminated, it could cause an infection in your ears.

Do not share your ear drop with anyone else.

The dose of this medicine will be decided by your doctor. Your doctor will advise you on the treatment timeframe depending on the severity of your condition and response to the medication.
What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?
Instil the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose to make up for a missed dose.

If you often forget to use your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
When should I not use this medicine?
Do not use Hydrocortisone + Neomycin + Polymyxin B if you ever had an allergic reaction (e.g. rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to this medicine or medicines belonging to aminoglycoside group such as kanamycin, paromomycin, streptomycin, and gentamicin.

Alert your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • viral infection of the ear
  • fungal infection of the ear
  • bacterial infection of the middle ear
  • ruptured or damaged ear drum
as Hydrocortisone + Neomycin + Polymyxin B may not be suitable for you.
What should I take note of while using this medicine?
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Hydrocortisone + Neomycin + Polymyxin B to a child. Children may be more sensitive to the side effects.

Individuals who have a certain mitochondrial disease (mutations or changes in the parts of your cells which help make energy) may experience an increased risk of hearing loss with this medicine. Although not routinely done, your doctor may advise you to undergo genetic testing to check if Hydrocortisone + Neomycin + Polymyxin B is best suited for you. If you know you have this disease, inform your doctor.

Keep your appointments with your doctor. Your doctor needs to monitor your condition and check your response to the medication regularly.
What side effects could I experience?
Hydrocortisone + Neomycin + Polymyxin B may cause stinging and burning sensation in the ears.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I use this with other medicines?
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking or using any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
